B2B Copywriter for
Transportation and Logistics Companies
I’m a professional B2B copywriter. I’m also a Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) with APICS and a Certified
Professional Logistician (CPL) with the Society of Logistics. And for more
than 25 years, I've worked for the U.S. Army, Battelle Memorial
Institute VT Group, and SAIC.
I've been where the rubber meets the road. My logistics
experience comes from having worked in field units and at the Pentagon. On the
commercial side, I toiled in business development and consulting.
I won’t bore you with everything I did. But here are two fairly recent projects I
worked on.
Supporting the U.S. Army, I worked on a team at the Pentagon to re-engineer the Army’s supply chain. That was no small feat. We worked at
it for five years. This project received the Supply Chain Council’s Award for
Supply Chain Excellence in 2001.
Working on another Army project, I helped field
SAP’s largest Supply Chain Enterprise Software Solution. Both were huge projects that required experience built up over
many years.
Now, I leverage my deep logistics background writing marketing
content. I write solely for transportation and logistics companies. I’ll say that again. I don’t write marketing content for any other
industry. I’m not a generalist. That means I stay on top of the latest
trends, products and services. I stay current.
But I don’t just write marketing content. I also consult, providing actionable advice.
My focus is on how to best generate
leads and increase sales. Often I work on specific issues. However, in some
cases it’s just better to develop a plan from scratch. Any way you look at it,
you need a strategy to guide you.
I
always work within your strategy to ensure you get the results you want. If you
haven’t got one, or you need to refine the one you have, I can help.
My Path to Becoming a B2B
Copywriter
I didn't set out to become a B2B copywriter. You could say I
backed into it. I followed the
traditional path of going to college, earning my B.A. from Indiana University. Then at the Florida Institute of Technology, I earned a M.S. in
Management/Logistics Management.
That prepared me for a career in logistics. But it also revealed a hidden interest. While in college, I wrote countless
papers. It might sound strange, but I
enjoyed it. About 9 years ago, I decided
to explore my latent interest and earned a certificate in technical
writing. It seemed like a logical path
for me.
But I soon veered off from technical writing.
It seemed to lack something. That led me to copywriting. So, I
completed a number of copywriting programs. In particular, I learned SEO and B2B
copywriting from the American Writers and Artists Institute (AWAI).
But my desire to master copywriting led me to train under some
of today's leading copywriters. I don’t settle for average. So I sought out the
best copywriters in their fields. I learned B2B copywriting from Steve
Slaunwhite. And I became certified in SEO Copywriting with Heather
Lloyd-Martin.
Trust on the Internet is a major issue. It’s tough to know who you’re dealing
with. It’s difficult to “know” if
someone can deliver on their promises. I recognize that. Thus, I let
independent organizations vouch for me as a B2B copywriter. And I burned the midnight oil to become
certified. That said, here are my
credentials.
